LWCC Dedicates the Foster Learning Center

WRITTEN BY

BATON ROUGE (July 1, 2021) –LWCC’s next great chapter unfolds with the dedication of the Governor M.J. “Mike” Foster, Jr. Learning Center at LWCC. The new facility in Baton Rouge honors our founder, the late Governor Foster, and serves as a valuable resource for employees, agents, policyholders, and partners to cultivate innovation and learning that will help Louisiana progress into the future.

“The Foster Learning Center provides LWCC a best-in-class meeting facility where we can bring together thought leaders to work toward solutions that will make an impact across the state through powerful collaboration and creative problem solving,” said Kristin Wall, President and Chief Executive Officer of LWCC.

The Foster Learning Center will facilitate new horizons of thinking and doing in Louisiana that promote safe, healthy, and prosperous lives in our Louisiana communities. The connections, partnerships, and opportunities that come from the use of the space will ultimately create positive, influential ideas for LWCC and Louisiana.

Gratitude for our Founder, Governor Foster

With all the excitement surrounding the new facility, you may be wondering how we got here. Governor M. J. “Mike” Foster, Jr. first ran for political office with the goal of improving the workers’ compensation market in the state, which was in terrible shape at the time and prohibiting economic growth. The instability of the market also kept injured workers from accessing much-needed benefits in a timely manner. In 1991, he authored a constitutional amendment and legislation that created LWCC as a private mutual insurance company, setting it up for sustainable future success. There is now a stable workers’ comp market in Louisiana and rates have decreased by over 60%.

“We would not be who we are or where we are if not for Governor Foster’s unwavering leadership, steadfast commitment, and loyalty to both our company and our state,” said LWCC President and CEO Kristin Wall. “This space ensures that his legacy will live on at LWCC while supporting our ongoing efforts to elevate Louisiana’s position in America.”

Naming the learning center after Governor Foster is a perfect tribute to his legacy. It ensures his name will remain connected to LWCC and honors the values he stood for and the man he was.

World-Class Spaces that Inspire

The Foster Learning Center is located on the ground floor of LWCC’s newly renovated home office which is centrally located in Baton Rouge on S. Acadian Thruway, just off the I-10 interstate exit.

The new space offers five individual meeting rooms that can be combined into one large space and a boardroom—all complete with state-of-the-art presentation technology as well as access to outdoor patio spaces and indoor common areas. Impressive, right? It’s exciting to think about the kinds of breakthroughs and changes that a space like this can inspire.

Continuing to Elevate Louisiana

Much in the same manner that our founder, Governor Foster, carried himself, our new facility seeks to embrace powerful ideas and direct them toward knowledge, progress, and prosperity.

LWCC President and CEO Kristin Wall, said, “While the life and achievements of Governor Foster are honored in the facility, he would be proud to see that LWCC’s promise continues to move forward and that our commitment to Louisiana is stronger than ever.”

A true Champion of Louisiana, Governor Foster left behind a legacy that embodies what we mean by “elevating Louisiana.” The Foster Learning Center will be no different. The space will facilitate so much more than meetings and presentations. It’s where we learn. It’s where we continue to grow. It’s where we continue to express our love for Louisiana in the best way we know how: Louisiana Loyal. Always.
