- Local Resources and Events: American Cancer Society’s Louisiana group offers free resources and services to local patients. Get involved in their events, advocacy work, or get connected to a support group.
- 24/7 Cancer Helpline: American Cancer Society’s cancer helpline “can connect you with trained cancer information specialists who will answer questions about a cancer diagnosis and provide guidance and a compassionate ear.” Call 1-800-227-2345 or schedule a video chat here.
- Cancer Survivors Network: An open, online forum that allows patients, survivors, and caregivers to search for and/or post questions for those who have had similar journeys and can offer support or help.
- Caregiver Resource Guide: ACS provides information and resources for caregivers and family members. The guide includes information about what to expect as a caregiver, coping with cancer, self-care as a caregiver, The resource guide is also available in PDF form here.
Cancer Worksheets: These worksheets were inspired by the experience of April Starr and her husband Lucas Daniel who was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in 2017. After he passed away, April created simple templates to help others track and communicate information about diagnosis, treatment, medications, and symptoms that can be applied to all types of cancer. CaringBridge: Some patients prefer to create a central location for sharing updates on their treatment. Sharing your journey via CaringBridge or a private Facebook group can allow you to share updates with many people quickly and can allow your loved ones to post updates on your behalf.
Cancer Hope Network: Cancer Hope Network provides free one-on-one peer support for cancer patients and their loved ones. Request a peer support match here.
CancerCare: CancerCare provides support and free resources for patients and caregivers such as their 15-week online support group for people caring for a spouse or partner with cancer.
