Welcome to LWCC's Newly-Renovated Corporate Office Building
Originally built in 1984, LWCC’s newly renovated main office is centrally located in Baton Rouge on S. Acadian Thruway, just off the I-10 interstate exit. LWCC collaborated with the local talents of architect firm EskewDumezRipple and contractors of Milton J. Womack, Inc. to complete the upgrade and renovation.
The building is composed of 8 floors with a total square footage of 130,467 square feet.
“While we wanted an open, collaborative workspace to see us through decades to come, we were mindful to make selections that honored the company’s history and purpose,” says Gretchen Hofeling, Sr Vice President & CFO. “Throughout the space, we balanced a modern look, filled with innovative technology, with subtle touches of Louisiana, which can be found in the color palette and textures, natural wood elements, and artwork.”
The Lobby
The entrance lobby is accented by a two-story wood screen made of vertical slats. The screen also features the “LWCC” letters integrated into the slats. These wood slats can also be found throughout the building to tie the spaces together.
The Cafe
Located on the second-floor is a 2,700 square foot cafe with ample seating for dining and casual meetings, with open access to the third floor stairway.
The Floor Plan
Prior to the renovation, private offices were located at the exterior of each floor and blocked the outside views from the open plan desks that were located in the interior of the floors. During the renovation process, private offices with glass walls were moved to the interior, providing space for desks and cubicles around the perimeter. Desks are pulled back at least 5 feet from the windows to provide a better circulation path that also ensures thermal comfort and reduces glare at the desk. The “flipped” design also optimizes access to natural light and exterior views.
In addition to conventional meeting rooms receiving state-of-the-art upgrades, numerous common work spaces were added to the floor plan to give employees ample opportunities for flexing work outside of individual desk spaces. Whether an employee is trying to collaborate creatively in a group, work quietly in private, or anywhere in between, they have a space to do so.
Continuous Connection Between Floors
Each floor is developed to horizontally connect departments allowing for a user to reach a department located on the same floor seamlessly, and internal stairs allow for quick access to a floor above or below. The integration of flow between floors encourages collaboration between departments, and promotes a key quality of LWCC, health and wellness, amongst employees.
