LWCC Donates $20,000 through Holiday Giving Contest

WRITTEN BY

BATON ROUGE (January 12, 2022) – LWCC announced today a donation of $20,000 to three nonprofits in the state who are working to elevate Louisiana. The three nonprofits receiving these funds were Kids Join the Fight in New Orleans, Affiliated Blind of Louisiana in Lafayette, and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank in Baton Rouge.  The funds were distributed based on the percentage of votes received in the contest. Voting was open to the public.

The donation was made through LWCC’s Holiday Giving Contest, an innovative new initiative in collaboration with the company’s agent partners. In lieu of a traditional holiday gift, LWCC invited agent partners to nominate nonprofits leading transformational change. To be nominated, an organization was required to be based in Louisiana with a 501(c)(3) status and have been in operation for at least one year. LWCC received over 30 nominations from across the state.

“LWCC is constantly seeking ways to engage our agent partners in Louisiana Loyal, a movement to celebrate and elevate Louisiana. The Holiday Giving Contest proved to be a powerful way to support innovative nonprofits, while engaging with and supporting the agent community,” said Tensey Pricer, LWCC Agency Relations Manager.

The nominations were narrowed down to three finalists by LWCC’s Agency Council, an advisory group composed of top performing agents, who evaluated the nominees based on their philanthropic mission and efforts to better our home state. Following the announcement of the three finalists, voting was open to the public.

With nearly 650 votes being casted, Kids Join the Fight received 53.2%, Affiliated Blind of Louisiana received 31.9%, and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank received 14.8%. Checks were presented to the organizations this past week.

“We are so grateful to have friends like LWCC. This donation will help provide adaptive aids and technology to further the training of blind, visually impaired, and deaf-blind individuals pursuing independence, employment, and community integration,” says Susan Reed, Program Director, Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Training Center.
