LWCC Pilots CompAcademy New Producers School

WRITTEN BY

It’s no secret that continuing education is a win-win for both employees and employers. Continuing education can upgrade skills and knowledge, increase competitiveness, and simultaneously help an organization achieve success. To ensure the success of agent partners early in their careers, LWCC piloted the CompAcademy New Producer School on Friday, February 3rd, bringing together 50 agents from 25 agencies across Louisiana for an immersive, one-day learning experience.

The day’s presentations were tailored to meet the needs of aspiring agents. Seth Irby, LWCC Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, set the tone for the day, welcoming attendees and offering an invitation to learn more about LWCC and the Louisiana Loyal movement.

“LWCC’s purpose is to help Louisiana thrive. The Louisiana Loyal movement brings that to life as we celebrate and elevate our home state through our core business of providing best-in-class workers’ compensation insurance and through innovative initiatives that drive transformational change,” said Seth. “CompAcademy is one of those initiatives, and we’re excited that you’re a part of it.”

Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of workers’ comp from industry leaders through presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, and one-on-one conversations with LWCC department leaders and underwriters. Qualifying agents were able to gain five hours of continuing education credits for their participation. Some of the concepts from the course included:

  • The history of workers’ compensation and how it provides economic stability for business owners.
  • How to optimize submissions to work with underwriters on procuring coverage for clients.
  • How encouraging clients to have a claim response plan can aid in achieving better claim outcomes.
  • Identifying common audit pitfalls and how to advise clients to prepare for a policy audit.
  • How the objective of safety services is to create a culture of safety and decision making to promote wellbeing in the workplace.

“There are opportunities for new producers and account managers to learn insurance from carriers, but many are offered outside of Louisiana. We felt compelled to offer CompAcademy as a chance for agents who are early in their career to receive quality insurance education for free in their own backyard,” said Colby Allen, LWCC Customer Experience Analyst. “As someone who used to coordinate education for producers at an agency, I'm grateful to now work with a company who is working to ensure our agent partners have the tools and skills they need to provide unmatched service to the business owners of Louisiana.”

A major part of our work in elevating Louisiana is enhancing LWCC’s customer experience and meeting the needs of today’s evolving marketplace for our agent partners. The insurance industry is constantly evolving, and it is paramount that we provide the necessary resources and education for our agent partners to meet new demands.
