LWCC Raises $58,000 For Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program

WRITTEN BY

Baton Rouge, La. (October 28, 2024) – Together with its agent and business partners, Louisiana’s largest workers’ compensation provider, LWCC, pledged $58,000 in donations to the Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program.

The donation was a highlight of LWCC’s Speaker Series, which featured keynote speaker Renee Mauborgne, a management and strategy expert and best-selling co-author of Blue Ocean Strategy, Blue Ocean Shift, and the recently released Beyond Disruption: Innovate and Achieve Growth without Displacing Industries, Companies, or Jobs.

LWCC President and CEO Kristin W. Wall and Chief Strategy Officer Seth Irby presented a check to Skip Philips on behalf of LBF in the Foster Learning Center at LWCC’s Baton Rouge headquarters at the event Thursday.

The Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program provides higher education scholarships to dependent children of Louisiana workers who were killed or permanently disabled as the result of a workplace accident. Since 2004, the program, which is administered by the LBF, has awarded 349 scholarships totaling $940,100 to help students attend a school of their choice.

“LWCC is loyal to Louisiana’s workers, including taking care of injured workers and their families,” said Kristin W. Wall, LWCC President and CEO. “Our organization is proud to support the Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program. These funds help provide opportunities and transform lives through education.”

"When a parent loses their wage-earning ability, their families face many challenges – including financing their kids’ education,” said Hon. John C. Davidson (ret.) LBF President. “We’re grateful for the funding and partnership that LWCC provides because it helps us to ensure that the goals of aspiring students in our state aren’t derailed by the workplace injury of a parent.”
