LWCC's Holiday Giving Contest Provides $20,000 to Local Nonprofits

WRITTEN BY

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (January 10, 2023) – LWCC announced today a donation of $20,000 to three Louisiana-based nonprofits working to celebrate and elevate the state. The three organizations receiving funds are the Educational & Treatment Council, Inc. (Lake Charles), Maddie’s Footprints (Lafayette), and the Youth Service Bureau of St. Tammany Parish (Covington).

The donations were made through LWCC’s Holiday Giving Contest, an innovative initiative in collaboration with the company’s agent partners. In lieu of a traditional holiday gift, LWCC invited agent partners to nominate nonprofits leading impactful change within the state. To be nominated, an organization was required to be based in Louisiana with a 501(c)(3) status and have been in operation for at least one year. LWCC received over 30 nominations from across the state.

“LWCC is constantly seeking ways to engage our agent partners in Louisiana Loyal, a movement to celebrate and elevate Louisiana. The Holiday Giving Contest proved to be a powerful way to support innovative nonprofits, while engaging with and supporting the agent community,” said Tensey Pricer, LWCC Agency Relations Manager.

The nominations were narrowed down to three finalists by LWCC’s Agency Council, an advisory group composed of top performing agents, who evaluated the nominees based on their philanthropic mission and efforts to better our home state. Following the announcement of the three finalists, voting was open to the public.

The total gift of $20,000 was distributed based on the percentage of votes received during the contest. With over 1,300 votes cast, Maddie’s Footprints received 59%, Educational & Treatment Council, Inc. received 24%, and the Youth Service Bureau of St. Tammany Parish received 17% of the total. Checks were presented to the organizations this past week.
